AQUA LANE PARK TOWN OF TONAWANDA
The Pollinator Conservation Association is proud to work with the Town of Tonawanda, the Niagara River Greenway Commission, the Niagara River Greenway Ecological Steering Committee, and a wide variety of other partners and community groups to build conservation habitat at this very important location.
Aqua Lane is located on River Road and on the Niagara River. Just offshore from Aqua Lane is an incredible archipelago of islands that have been developed and protected by New York State and other partners including the Niagara River Greenway Commission and serve as critical habitat for a wide variety of birds, fish, and other wildlife. These include Strawberry Island, Frog Island, Tern Island, and Motor Island.
Aqua Lane could become an anchor for those island habitats and a significant place to both view and protect the great wildlife and nature that is found in this part of the Niagara River.

Aqua Lane habitat was created with using thermodynamic compost from local suppliers. Plants include native plants including sunflowers, milkweeds, asters, bee-balm, and goldenrods. These act both as host plants and as nectar producing plants for a variety of native butterflies and other native pollinators that depend on this kind of habitat. We are preserving the biodiversity of the Niagara River with this very important project.
